| PENTAX Corporation is pleased to announce the marketing of two spotting scopes ( terrestrial telescopes ), the PF-65ED II ( straight-line type ) and the PF-65EDA II ( slanted type ). These spotting scopes offer a high-level balance between exceptional image performance when viewing with the eyes and image quality for conducting zoom photography when connected to a digital camera. |
Main Features
|
- High image performance
Modifications were made to all optical systems, starting with the ED ( Extra-low Dispersion ) glass that is used in the objective lens, offering an improved image performance when compared to conventional models. Image performance that enables for observation with a clear line of sight, and image quality when attached to a digital camera for zoom photography of subjects are combined at a high level.
- 65mm compact-type with excellent portability
The 65mm objective lens is of a compact type, making it convenient to be carried around.
- Possible to use traditional eyepieces
The eyepiece features an American-standard 31.7mm ( 1.25 inch ) sleeve that is superior in interchangeability. In addition to using traditional eyepieces, a variety of eyepieces can also be selected to suit various purposes, starting with the XF series, which are specifically for spotting scopes, to the XW series, which are for astronomic telescopes.
- Two types : straight-line type and slanted type
The PF-65ED II is a straight-line type that is easy to use and enables for quick subject spotting. This type is convenient for observations while in motion. The PF-65EDA II is a slanted type where the eyepiece is slanted at a 45-degree angle, enabling for viewing of subjects that are at elevated heights in a relaxed posture, without the need to look up.
- Waterproofed for use in rain
By making the eyepiece airtight, through incorporating dust-proof glass in the attachment part, the spotting scopes are equipped with a waterproof construction ( JIS Class 6 equivalent, water resistant to a depth of 1 meter* ), enabling for observation even in rain or fog.
- *
- The spotting scopes cannot be used underwater.
- Nitrogen-filled for clear field of view
The main bodies of the scopes are nitrogen-filled to ensure a clear field of view by preventing the inside of the body from fogging due to temperature differentials.
- Other features
- Equipped with a target line on the hood, allowing for quick subject spotting from any location.
- Built-in lens hood that protects the lens from dust and rain, and prevents inner reflection, etc., by cutting extra light beams from outside the field of view.
- A focusing knob that is placed in the middle of the top part of the body, enabling for smooth and quick operation with either hand.
- Uses tripod socket with click-stop rotation mechanism. Especially for the slanted-type PF-65EDA II, the observer can remain in a relaxed position, since it is possible to turn the eyepiece while keeping the main body directed at the subject.
- Rubber coating used for the main body, enabling for superior resistance to impacts.
- Can be used as telescopic lens for a camera with a focal length of 780mm, if the PF-CA35 adaptor ( sold separately ) for attachment to single-lens reflex cameras is used.
