PENTAX Corporation is pleased to announce that it will be launching two new video nasopharyngoscopes, the VNL-100s and the VNL-150s on December 13, 2006 in Japan. Along with unparalleled handling, both video nasopharyngoscopes offer the ability to capture high-quality images for easier verification of microscopic/minute lesions. The VNL-100s, with a rigid distal tip diameter of 3.1 mm, permits extremely fine observations whereas the VNL-150s provides a flexible range of treatments in addition to observations.

The two models going on sale at this time are new scopes designed specifically for the PENTAX video nasopharyngoscopes EPK-s System.
After listening to otolaryngology endoscope clinicians working in the field, we developed the EPK-s System with their many needs in mind while aiming for the best quality images possible.
The system consists of the EPK-s color video processor (released in September 2006) and specialized scopes. The processor comes with a wealth of features including multiple digital outputs, multiple display options for captured images, and digital zooming. Combining the processor and scope allows us to get the absolute maximum performance and functionality from both components.
The addition of two new scope models at this time makes it possible to support more precise observations and treatments in keeping with the end application. |
Main features common to both scopes

- Outstanding quality images
The scopes are able to provide bright, clear, high-quality images because of their high-resolution color CCD and proprietary lens design. Furthermore, the large screen size simplifies lesion detection and verification.
- Advanced handling characteristics
To further enhance the scopes' ergonomics, we improved the balance and fit of the control hand as well as redesigned the position and shape of frequently used remote-control buttons.

VNL-100s features

- Ultraslim tip diameter
The ultraslim 3.1-mm-diameter rigid distal tip permits scope observations of infants, which were difficult to perform with conventional videoscopes.
- Easier insertion
The shape of the distal tip has been optimized for even easier insertion.

VNL-150s features
|
- Enables a wide range of treatments
The inclusion of a forceps channel allows for a wide range of treatments, such as biopsies, mucous-membrane suction, and removal of foreign matter, in addition to scope observations.
- Thin-diameter design
The insertion-tube diameter has been kept to a slim 4.9 mm while making room for a 2.0-mm-diameter forceps channel.
