PENTAX Corporation is pleased to announce that the VoiceTEXT text-to-speech (TTS) software, developed by its subsidiary PENTAX Voiceware Co., Ltd., (President: C. W. Moon, Headquarters: Seoul, Korea), has won the Prime Minister's Award in the Year-End Grand Prix of the 2006 Best New Software Products Awards sponsored by Ministry of information and Communication of Korea.
The Year-End Grand Prix of the Best New Software Products Awards was established in 1994 for the purpose of encouraging the development of new products by Korea's domestic software industry. Among numerous software products developed in Korea each year, only six products are named the year's winners for their exceptional performance: one President's Award winner, two Prime Minister's Award winners and three Association Chairman's Award winners.
Available in Korean, Japanese, English and Mandarin Chinese versions and designed for business applications, VoiceTEXT is a text-to-speech software product that converts text data into voices on the computer. It generates natural sounds closely resembling human voices, thanks to the originally developed algorithms. It has already been incorporated into a number of telecommunications services and devices, including call centers, data guidance systems and computer systems.
In the award selection, VoiceTEXT was highly evaluated for its multilingual compatibility, voice reproduction superior in quality to competing products, and applicability to a broad range of industries.
