PENTAX is pleased to announce the beginning of sales of its autofluorescence videoendoscope system in Japan as of November 1, 2006 — an innovative system enabling the effective detection of lesions and abnormalities at early stages through the display of the differing degrees of autofluorescence emitted by submucosal tissue.

This system features a PENTAX SAFE-3000 dual light source processor unit and a PENTAX EB-1970AK videoendoscope. It is also the first product of its kind in the world to incorporate an electronic videoendoscope — an advance that enables it to deliver images of significantly higher resolution.

The system has been marketed in Europe and other Asian countries since November 2005.

Major Features

  1. Autofluorescence observation via electronic videoendoscope

Observation of high quality color video images by means of autofluorescence and an electronic videoendoscope permits easier discovery of minor bronchial lesions as well as early stage cancer compared to conventional endoscope examinations. It can be applied to bronchi.

  2. Flexible image display

The system offers three image display modes — a WL mode for ordinary white light images, FL mode for autofluorescence images and TWIN mode that simultaneously displays WL and FL images side by side. Switching between these modes requires only a single touch of a button for improved operability during observation.

  3. Other

    1. The system features a digital video output terminal, which allows the user to display or store movie images on a PC or a variety of digital video equipment.
    2. The system also features a USB output terminal, which allows convenient digital still image storage on a USB memory.
